Which Areas of the Body Get Best Results From Liposuction?
- Posted on: Jul 5 2017
Liposuction is routinely performed and recommended essentially from hip to feet, the face, neck, upper and lower abdomen, flanks (love handles), back, arms, inner and outer thighs (saddle bags), calves and ankles as well as buttocks. It is routinely done in the male breast removal surgery (gynecomastia). However, areas that are most favorable for liposuctioning are those with firmer skin turgor and tone in order to have better post-operative skin tightening and more pleasant outcome and appearance and less saggy skin. These include abdominal and flanks, as well as outer thigh regions.
Lipoplasty procedures are usually associated with little post-operative pain, as well as some risks of infection and bleeding. Therefore, patients always receive preoperative instructions as to avoid medications such as aspirin containing products that may result in higher post-operative bruising, swelling and bleeding. Some herbs are also recommended to avoid pre-operatively for the same purpose. Intra-operatively and, at times post-operatively, antibiotics are administered both intravenously as well as orally in order to reduce the rate of infection. Post operatively, pain medications and anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea medications are also prescribed in order to provide comfort for better and quicker patient mobility and recovery.
